The Caravan Experience

The Caravan Experience is a online immersive theater and improv show that aims to unearth emotional discoveries and foster a sense of playfulness through experiential learning.

It made its memorable debut in July 2020 as a passion project and was staged at numerous online events, such as The Online Burning Man, as well as private events, over the course of the next 1 1/2 years.

Our grandest moment in the limelight came at the Online Burn in 2020 (where we were known as the Giant Sand Worm). We received the esteemed Necklace Factory Award, were featured in an article in Bay Area Magazine, and were presented live as one of the top experiences on the digital playa.

There were whispers of some very famous celebrities (who will remain unnamed) who might have joined us for the experience, had they shown up. We even put on a last-minute performance just in case they did.

Alas, they did not,

but we soldier on

The Experience

This initial iteration led 12 guests on a seemingly haphazard journey through various Zoom rooms, where they were prompted to fulfill their childhood dreams, confess their wrongdoings, defend themselves in court, and offer advice to someone in distress.

The nature of the experience was kept completely secret, and guests were only privy to the details of each scene when they arrived in the room.

The entire experience was tailored and adapted based on questions that guests answered before the show and on information they shared during the experience.

During the experiences, we had many guests who wanted to volunteer as actors, and so, a community of amateur and professional theater enthusiasts started to build!

For this production, we had 12 actors from six countries, performing from eight locations to put on the personalized experience.

About 140 people experienced a personalized journey over this time.
